The decorative art of the Amur tribes
An ethnographic monograph by Berthold Laufer, issued in 1902 by the American Museum of Natural History in New York as part of the Jesup North Pacific Expedition reports, recording the ornament of Amur River peoples for anthropologists and museum curators. The plates are flat black-and-white line drawings of interlocking spirals, scroll borders, and appliqué cutouts traced from clothing, birchbark, and carved wood, usable as high-contrast pattern bands, repeating motifs, and silhouette shapes.
