A costume reference by the designer and illustrator J. Moyr Smith, published in London in 1882 for artists, dress historians, and theatrical designers, pairing 112 plates of ancient Greek women's dress with quotations from Homer, Herodotus, Euripides, and other Greek authors. The drawings are single standing figures in red-brown line on cream, each showing the fall of chiton and himation, braided and veiled hairstyles, and banded key or palmette borders at hem and waist, useful as clean outline figures, drapery studies, and repeatable Greek border patterns.
