Ancient pagan and modern Christian symbolism
Thomas Inman's comparative study of religious emblems, edited by John Newton and reissued in 1884 by J. W. Bouton of New York for antiquarians and students of comparative religion. The plates are numbered pen-and-ink outline figures of single symbols isolated on blank ground crosses, horseshoes, monograms and amulets drawn flat and unshaded, usable as clean vector-ready emblems or ornament stamps.
