A three-volume compilation of anecdotes on painting, sculpture, engraving, architecture, literature and music, written by Pierre Jean Baptiste Nougaret and printed by Jean-François Bastien in Paris in 1776 for art-minded readers. The pictures are printers' ornaments: woodcut headpieces of flower baskets and scrolling acanthus, floral sprays, and initial letters boxed in fruit, usable as rules, frames and drop caps.
