Anecdotes of heraldry, in which is set forth the origin of the armorial bearings of many families
A popular heraldry handbook by Charles Norton Elvin, published in London by Bell and Daldy in 1864 for genealogists and family-history readers tracing the origins of British armorial bearings. The plates, drawn by Elvin and engraved by T. H. Smith, give line-engraved shields, crests, crowns, crossed keys and curling motto ribbons lettered in Latin, usable as compact ornament or emblem stock.
