Animal painters of England from the year 1650 : a brief history of their lives and works: illustrated with--specimens of their painting
A survey of English animal painters from 1650 onward, written by the horse breeder and collector Sir Walter Gilbey and published in London by Vinton & Co. in 1900 for sporting-art collectors and breeders. Engraved plates after paintings show hunters and hounds in open country, rearing and galloping horses, and riders at fences, with soft tonal skies and dense foliage useful as silhouettes or backgrounds.
