Annales de chimie et de physique

1789 · Paris, Masson [etc.] · 4 pictures

A French scientific journal of chemistry and physics, begun in Paris in 1789 and continued by Masson for researchers and academies. The plates here are letterpress printer's ornaments — woodcut baskets and vases of flowers, a swag of roses tied with ribbons, and a vignette of a laboratory bench with retorts, furnace, globes and telescope — usable as headpieces, dividers and spot motifs.
