Annales de chimie et de physique

1789 · Paris, Masson [etc.] · 9 pictures

Annales de chimie et de physique was a French scientific journal begun in Paris in 1789 and published for chemists and physicists reporting experimental work. The illustrations here are not diagrams but small letterpress ornaments: dense black woodcut sprays of flowers, seed pods and leafy stems, plus a symmetrical foliate tailpiece, printed on visibly textured laid paper and usable as section dividers, spot marks or borders.
