Annales de chimie et de physique

1789 · Paris, Masson [etc.] · 3 pictures

Annales de chimie et de physique is a French scientific journal begun in 1789 and published in Paris by Masson for chemists and physicists reporting experimental work. The plates gathered here are not diagrams but letterpress ornaments: small cast flower sprays used as tailpieces and a wider headpiece band of scrollwork, flower baskets and blank shields, printed with the rough inking and broken edges of worn type, useful as section breaks, rules and spot decoration.
