Annual report
Annual report of the Ontario Department of Mines, issued by the provincial government in Toronto from 1891 for legislators, prospectors and the mining trade. The plates are captioned halftone photographs of ore and rock specimens shot against black grounds, so a designer gets high-contrast pale mineral shapes that cut out cleanly as silhouettes, textures or specimen-label layouts.
