Annual report of the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Annual reports of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art (later the Philadelphia Museum of Art), issued in Philadelphia from 1878 onward for trustees, members, and students of the industrial art school. The plates are halftone photographs of recent acquisitions set against plain grey grounds: incised and relief-molded art pottery, a wrought-iron grille with heraldic shields and rosettes, a carved stone sarcophagus with swags and masks—usable as ornament references and isolated object silhouettes.
