Another fashion epoch for 1909
A 1909 seasonal fashion catalogue issued by the Wanamaker department store in Philadelphia to promote its own dress and millinery lines to American retail customers. The plates are halftone reproductions of eighteenth-century French court portraits, oval and rectangular, showing women in lace-trimmed bodices and silk drapery, alongside black-line initial letters set in foliate and rose borders; useful for period costume reference and drop-cap ornament.
