Antiche trine italiane : trine ad ago
Elisa Ricci's 1908 survey of Italian needle lace, published in Bergamo by the Istituto Italiano d'Arti Grafiche for collectors, museums and lacemakers. Photographic plates record sixteenth- and seventeenth-century punto in aria, reticella and cutwork against dark grounds, giving designers geometric grid motifs, scalloped and pointed border edgings, and repeating floral and figure bands usable as rules, frames and pattern fills.
