Antiquités de la Russie méridionale
An archaeological survey of antiquities from southern Russia and the Black Sea region by Ivan Tolstoi and Nikodim Kondakov, translated and edited by Salomon Reinach and published in Paris by Leroux in 1891 for scholars of Scythian, Greek, Byzantine and migration-period material. The plates are outline and shaded wood engravings of excavated objects: bow fibulae, buckles, repoussé plaques, stamped square panels with frontal figures, and carved friezes of winged sphinxes and interlaced beasts, useful as border motifs, single ornament units and silhouettes of metalwork.
