Antiquités d'Herculanum
A folio of engraved plates after the wall paintings and objects excavated at Herculaneum, engraved by Tommaso Piroli and issued in Paris by the Piranesi brothers with Leblanc in 1804 for antiquarians, collectors and artists. Line-engraved figures float on plain or hatched grounds—dancing nymphs, satyrs, draped seated women, heads in rows—each plate scaled in Roman palms, giving clean cut-out figures and ornament borders.
