A French engraved record of the wall paintings and objects unearthed at Herculaneum, etched by François-Anne David with texts by Sylvain Maréchal and issued in Paris from 1780 for antiquarians and artists. Plates group small framed copies of Roman frescoes on dark grounds — floating draped figures, dancing satyrs, garlanded altars, still lifes of fruit and vessels — with ruled borders and plate numbers.
