An engraved record of the paintings and objects excavated at Herculaneum, etched by François-Anne David with French commentary by Sylvain Maréchal and issued in Paris from 1780 for antiquarians and artists. Plates group several numbered panels per page: Roman wall paintings of figures, sacrificial scenes, altars, animals and griffins, plus masks and portrait heads, all with dark grounds and ruled frames.
