An engraved record of finds from Herculaneum, etched by François-Anne David with French commentary by Sylvain Maréchal and published by David in Paris from 1780 for antiquarians, collectors and artists. Plates isolate bronze and silver vessels, lamps, tripods and furniture against blank grounds in fine line and grey wash, giving clean silhouettes of urns, handles, griffin legs and acanthus scrollwork usable as ornament stock.
