Aubin Louis Millin's Antiquités nationales (Paris, 1790) is a five-volume antiquarian survey recording tombs, inscriptions, statues, stained glass and frescoes from French abbeys, monasteries and châteaux seized as national property during the Revolution. Engraved plates combine outline elevations of Gothic portals and wall tombs with effigies, heraldic shields, relief friezes and numbered detail studies of ornament, useful as period-accurate architectural and heraldic line art.
