Richard Lynch Garner's 1900 popular account of primate behaviour and vocal communication, published by Ginn in Boston and London and drawing on his caged observation post in the West African forest. Halftone wash drawings, several signed by Charles Copeland, show chimpanzees and gorillas at close range, wire mesh observation cages in dense foliage, and figures with rifles in jungle clearings.
