Application of the telephone to commercial measurements
An engineering thesis by William Thomas Burnett and Carl Kent Brydges, submitted to the University of Illinois in 1905, on using the telephone receiver to measure electrical capacity and resistance. Pale mounted photographs of laboratory benches and instruments sit beside hand-inked wiring diagrams whose labelled coils, bridges, transformers and switch boxes give designers ready circuit schematics and hand-lettered captions.
