Applied mechanics; an elementary general introduction to the theory of structure and machines
An engineering textbook by James H. Cotterill, published by MacMillan in London in 1884 to introduce students to the theory of structures and machines. The plates are numbered line diagrams in black on cream paper: toothed gear wheels, chain drives, cranks and linkages, lettered pivot points and circles of motion, drawn with thin uniform strokes and left mostly as open space, useful as schematic ornament or technical reference.
