Appreciation of sculpture; a handbook by Russell Sturgis ...
A 1904 handbook on sculpture by the American critic Russell Sturgis, issued in New York by the Baker & Taylor Company for general readers and art students. The 77 plates are halftone photographs of carved figures, mostly single marbles shot against black or blank grounds: reclining and crouching nudes, pediment fragments, drapery folds, and tomb effigies, usable as isolated silhouettes and tonal figure studies.
