Apulien
A German art-topographical survey of Apulia by the archaeologist Rudolf Pagenstecher, issued in Leipzig by E.A. Seemann in 1914 for students and travelling readers of southern Italian art. The 127 plates are halftone photographs of Romanesque churches and courtyards: deep carved portals, banded archivolts, panelled bronze and wooden doors, column-borne lions, and arcaded stairs, useful for ornament borders, door panelling, and weathered stone texture.
