Archaeologische Hermeneutik; Anleitung zur Deutung klassischer Bildwerke
A German scholarly handbook by the classical archaeologist Carl Robert, published by Weidmann in Berlin in 1919, teaching students and specialists how to identify and interpret the subjects of Greek and Roman art. The plates are line redrawings of vase paintings, reliefs and tondi: figures in draped chitons, chariots and warriors, Greek key and palmette borders, black-ground panels, and inscribed name labels beside each figure, all usable as clean silhouettes, ornament strips and figure groups.
