The Architect & engineer of California and the Pacific Coast
A monthly trade journal for architects, engineers and builders on the Pacific Coast, published in San Francisco from 1905 and carrying project reports, plans and photographs of recent West Coast construction. The plates are halftone photographs of hospitals, apartment blocks, schools and civic buildings shot from the street, with flat grey skies, wide eaves, stucco and brick facades, sidewalks, utility poles and young street trees—useful for period building elevations, early twentieth-century urban texture and grainy halftone backgrounds.
