An architectural monograph on houses of the southern colonies,
An issue of the White Pine Series of Architectural Monographs, written by Frank E. Wallis and edited by Russell F. Whitehead for the White Pine Bureau in Saint Paul in 1916, surveying colonial houses of Virginia, Maryland and the Carolinas for practising architects, builders and lumber dealers. Green-black duotone halftones show clapboard and brick facades framed by bare or leafy trees, with porticoes, dormers, shuttered windows and end chimneys; measured details of doorways and cornices supply clean line work for period lettering, borders and architectural spot art.
