An architectural monograph on old three story houses of New England,
An installment of the White Pine Series of Architectural Monographs, written by Boston architect Frank Chouteau Brown and edited by Russell F. Whitehead in 1917, surveying three-story colonial and Federal houses in New England for architects and builders working in the Colonial Revival. Halftone photographs show clapboard and brick facades with hipped roofs, roof balustrades, shuttered sash windows and pedimented doorways, several captioned and framed as plates, alongside measured details useful for period facade elevations, window rhythms and doorway ornament.
