An architectural monograph on Providence & its colonial houses,
An installment of the White Pine Series of Architectural Monographs, written by Providence antiquarian Norman M. Isham and edited by Russell F. Whitehead for the White Pine Bureau in St. Paul in 1918, addressed to practicing architects and builders. The halftone photographs show clapboard Georgian and Federal houses in Providence — fanlit doorways, louvered shutters, roof balustrades, dormers, picket fences — in warm grey-green ink, useful as period building stock, street-level façades and architectural detail studies.
