Architectural and picturesque illustrations of the cathedral churches of England and Wales. The drawings made from sketches taken expressly for this work, by Robert Garland. With descriptions by Thomas Moule
A topographical survey of the cathedral churches of England and Wales, published in London in 1838 by E. Wilson and C. Tilt, with steel engravings by Benjamin and Henry Winkles after sketches by Robert Garland and descriptions by Thomas Moule, aimed at antiquarians and architectural subscribers. The plates are fine-line steel engravings of naves, choirs, transepts and exteriors, with deep receding perspectives, ribbed vaults, organ cases, screens and small clerical figures for scale; useful for Gothic structural detail and grey tonal atmosphere.
