Architecture and democracy
Claude Bragdon's 1918 collection of essays on American architecture, ornament, and postwar building, published by Knopf in New York for architects and a general reading public. The plates are black-and-white line diagrams of his "projective ornament": coffered grids, scrolled panels, magic-square lattices of small squares and dots, and radial rosettes built from triangles — usable as tiling units, borders, and monochrome stencil motifs.
