Architecture for general students
An introductory architecture survey by Caroline W. Horton, published in New York by Hurd and Houghton in 1874 for students and general readers. The wood engravings isolate single building parts — acanthus capitals, groin-vaulted bays, arcades of clustered columns, buttressed piers — in fine line and hatching against blank ground, giving designers cut-out structural motifs and masonry textures.
