Archæology and false antiquities

Munro, Robert, 1835-1920 · 1906 · Philadelphia, G. W. Jacobs · 66 pictures

Robert Munro's 1906 study of archaeological forgeries, published in Philadelphia by G. W. Jacobs for antiquarians and museum workers judging genuine from faked finds. Line drawings and stipple engravings isolate single objects on blank grounds: flaked flint arrowheads, worked bone with incised animal outlines, notched stone tools, each rendered in hatching that records surface pitting and fracture edges.
