Armorial families : a directory of gentlemen of coat-armour
A reference directory of British families entitled to bear arms, compiled by heraldic writer Arthur Charles Fox-Davies and published in Edinburgh by T.C. & E.C. Jack in 1905 for genealogists, lawyers and armigerous households. The plates are line-block drawings of full achievements — shield, helm, crest, mantling and motto ribbon — in dense black and white, useful for crest silhouettes, scrollwork frames, banner lettering and quartered shield patterns.
