Around the world in ten days
A boys' aviation adventure novel by Chelsea Curtis Fraser, illustrated by Howard L. Hastings and published by Thomas Y. Crowell in New York in 1922, written for young readers following a record-breaking flight around the world. The color plates show aviators in leather helmets, goggles and red neckerchiefs clinging to fuselages, men harpooning a manta ray from an open boat, and a monkey hauled up a rope above breaking waves, while line plates give labelled three-view drawings of the monoplane Sky-Bird II; useful for period flight gear, seaplane silhouettes and high-contrast peril poses.
