Art and Archaeology, an illustrated periodical issued from 1914 by the Archaeological Institute of America with the Archaeological Society of Washington and the College Art Association, addressed to scholars, museum members, and educated readers. Halftone plates reproduce excavation sites, casts and architectural fragments, museum interiors, mural paintings, and exhibition canvases, offering grainy monochrome photography, coffered ceilings, column rows, and soft tonal cityscapes.
