Walter Smith's 1872 treatise on art and drawing instruction, issued in Boston by James R. Osgood for school boards, teachers, and advocates of industrial art training, with architectural illustrations by W. H. Crossland. The wood-engraved plates give floor plans, cross-sections, and elevations of art schools, galleries, and drawing rooms, labelled with dimensions and lit by clerestories and skylights, alongside geometric drawing and ornament exercises useful as line-diagram and grid material.
