Art in Great Britain and Ireland
A single-volume survey history of British and Irish art written by Sir Walter Armstrong, director of the National Gallery of Ireland, and published in New York by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1909 for general readers and students. The 543 illustrations are small halftone photographs, often heavily inked and low in contrast, showing Gothic doorways and tombs, columned church interiors, seated public monuments, panel paintings and portraits, useful as grainy architectural silhouettes and dark-toned period texture.
