An epistolary biography edited by Oswald G. Knapp, published by George Allen in London in 1904, gathering letters between the portrait painter Thomas Lawrence, the actress Sarah Siddons and her daughters for a general reading public. The plates reproduce Lawrence's pencil and chalk portrait drawings: soft-modelled faces, Regency bonnets, high collars and cravats, loose contour lines left unfinished against blank paper.
