Artists of Abraham Lincoln portraits
A set of page scans from an 1863 American illustrated volume on the Civil War, gathered in the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection alongside material on caricaturist Adalbert Volck and portraits of Abraham Lincoln, made for general Northern readers. The plates are wood-engraved crowd and interior scenes — the April 1861 Baltimore riot with mobs, paving stones and marching troops, women sewing uniforms for soldiers — reproduced as high-contrast copies with letterpress columns, useful for line-art figure groups, period interiors and rough grainy textures.
