Artists of Abraham Lincoln portraits
A research file from the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, assembled around 1913, documenting painters of Abraham Lincoln portraits and their works for curators, collectors, and Lincoln scholars in the United States. The plates reproduce one rail-splitter composition in several states \u2014 a coarse halftone, a full-color painting, and two pen-and-ink line copies \u2014 giving designers a young Lincoln swinging a maul over split rails, a lake and wooded landscape behind, plus a ready comparison of tonal versus hatched linework.
