Artists of Abraham Lincoln portraits
A research file assembled by the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, gathering newspaper clippings and photographs on painters of Abraham Lincoln and on Paul Philippoteaux, the French artist behind the Gettysburg cyclorama. Coarse halftone reproductions show the long battle panorama in strips, tents and cannon on open ground, and studio shots of an artist bent over a miniature battlefield with toy soldiers; useful for wide horizontal battle scenes, newsprint texture, and grainy mid-century press layout.
