The art of dyeing wool, silk, and cotton
An English edition of Jean Hellot's eighteenth-century French treatises on dyeing wool, silk and cotton, reissued in London by Scott, Greenwood in 1901 for dyers and textile manufacturers. The plates pair lettered workshop interiors with vats, brick furnaces and hanging drying frames against flat elevations and plans of coppers, ladles, buckets and rakes, offering keyed line diagrams, cross-hatched masonry and isolated tool silhouettes.
