The art of dying wool, silk, and cotton
An English translation of French treatises on dyeing wool, silk and cotton by Jean Hellot, Pierre Joseph Macquer and Lepileur d'Apligny, printed in London in 1789 for dyers and manufacturers. The plate is an engraved technical diagram of dyehouse equipment—lidded coppers, wooden vats, brick furnaces and small pots—drawn in outline with letter keys and figure numbers, usable as workshop apparatus silhouettes or diagram lettering.
