The art of J. J. Hilder
A memorial monograph on the Australian watercolourist J. J. Hilder, edited by Sydney Ure Smith and Bertram Stevens and published in Sydney by Angus & Robertson in 1918 for collectors and art students. Plates reproduce pale wash landscapes — dry paddocks, gum and poplar clumps, grazing cattle, cloud-filled skies — plus a few hatched pen drawings, useful for muted colour grounds and soft-edged horizon bands.
