The arts and crafts of anciety Egypt
Flinders Petrie's survey of Egyptian art techniques, published by T.N. Foulis in London in 1910 for students, collectors and craftsmen. Halftone plates photograph single objects against black grounds — carved ivory figures and boxes, a sculpted head in raking light, stone column shafts — giving designers high-contrast silhouettes, surface texture and numbered plate corners usable as cropped motifs.
