The arts and crafts of our Teutonic forefathers
An archaeological survey of Germanic decorative metalwork by Edinburgh art historian Gerard Baldwin Brown, published in London and Edinburgh by T. N. Foulis in 1910 for students of early medieval art and ornament. Halftone photographs on black grounds show excavated brooches, buckles, sword fittings and pierced openwork mounts, alongside line drawings of interlace and chip-carved pattern, offering silhouettes, ring-and-dot fields and corroded metal texture.
