Hulme, F. Edward (Frederick Edward), 1841-1909, Glaisher, James, 1809-1903, Mackie, Samuel Joseph, Hunt, Robert, 1807-1887 · 1872 · London, Virtue & co. · 131 pictures

A Victorian design manual of four essays — on snow crystals, plant form, shells and crystallography — by F. Edward Hulme, James Glaisher, Samuel Mackie and Robert Hunt, published by Virtue in London in 1872 for architects, designers and manufacturers. Wood engravings pair natural specimens with the geometric rosettes, stars and radial patterns drawn from them, including white-on-black snowflake diagrams usable as motifs, borders and repeats.
