The astrologer of the nineteenth century
An English astrological and occult compendium issued under the pseudonym "Raphael" by Knight & Lacey, London, 1825, aimed at popular readers of almanacs, fortune-telling and magic. Small wood engravings mix armed figures and shipwreck scenes with talismanic circles inscribed with divine names, sigils and crosses, plus animal fables; useful for magic diagrams, dense hatched foliage and crowded emblematic borders.
