An instructional treatise on astronomy, globes, and planetarium instruments by the London instrument maker George Adams, reprinted in Philadelphia in 1808 for American students and self-teachers. Alongside its technical plates sit small wood-engraved tailpieces: a symmetrical rose-and-foliage sprig, and two putti reading in a rough landscape, both cut in open line with visible hatching, useful as chapter ornaments, spot decorations, or borrowed figure vignettes.
